At the Von's grocery store in Covina, I found the Clearman's cheese bread topping for sale. The prices in California for everything were a bit steep ($7;99 for what would probably have been $4-5 at home!) but we ended up purchasing 2, and are going to attempt to get them home safely!
First step? Freeze the tubs solid, and get some ice blocks and an insulated carrying case.
The morning of our flight, I loaded everything up, stacked the spread containers inside our Disney popcorn bucket, and zipped everything into the bag and carried it through the TSA Pre-Check line. I did get stopped for screening and he took everything out. Because the spread was frozen solid, It could go through, but one of my ice packs was taken, because it had a lot of liquid (not a surprise, honestly).
I had also put a ziplock in the bag, and at lunch (at Rock N Brews), the waitress filled that baggie with ice, and that was enough to get the entire package home, through two flights (Ontario - Denver - Minneapolis) and a 9 hour day. When we got home, everything was still cold and there was lots of frozen ice remaining, so it looks like the plan worked!
This weekend, we're going to have some cheese bread and a nice ribeye to celebrate our trip and return home!
Thanks for stopping by!
