Happy Fall!
Here in the upper midwest, early October is usually one of the best times of the year for outside activities. Beautiful and crips blue skies, cooler temps and gentle breezes, and the beginning of fall color.
Today, we decided to take a trail ride on the Minnesota River Greenway, on our Pedego electric bikes.
Turned out to be a perfect way to spend a few hours on a Sunday!
It was our first time riding this section of the greenway, and it had beautiful views, great waysides/overlooks, and wasn't too crowded. We parked at the first entrance at the Eagan/Mendota Heights border off highway 13. And we rode close to 5 miles along the trail, stopping at an overlook just before we rode under the 35E bridge.
Unfortunately, there wasn't a great stopping point for photos near the most scenic area -- the trail goes past the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi rivers, and it was just breathtaking today with yellow leaves and blue skies.
One thing we loved about the trail is that the steep dropoffs are all fenced off with very study black fencing. Maybe it's not the most scenic of things to ride past, but having ridden in terror of falling to our deaths on the Cannon Valley high trails last October, this one was much more reassuring during the treacherous parts.
In all, we rode about 9.4 miles, and it was a great way to enjoy a beautiful day, explore a new part of town, and spend some time on a trail. We will definitely ride this trail again, and are making picnic plans for one of the overlook areas near a parking area by Lloyd's barbecue (and Pedego).
Thanks for stopping by!
