Snow!

studiosebb-0a

This winter has been very unusually. With la nina in effect, meteorologists expected the winter to leave with a burst of snow and cold weathers, but to to come in that way. There were purple temps (-10 and lower) bursts of snowy bomb cyclone weather that greeted us at the holidays, and the new year is dumbing snow on us!

There have been 10" of snow at MSP this morning, and we have another day of snow on the way.

As I was running the snow blower last night, I used a trick that I can't believe I haven't known before this year. The hand drive on the right moves the blower forward/backward, depending upon which gear is engaged. The one on the left moves the snow. They also operate independently.

So it's possible to stop moving forward and just blow the snow until it's all clear - very helpful in a heavy/deep snow! You can also move forward without moving the snow, which is great when turning near the garage or street, for instance, and you don't want to throw snow at that point.

I finished the second of three snow clearings (so far), and went to my desk and saw a winter wonderland in the back yard. And I watched this cute little squirrel dive under the deck and run around the edge of the house where the snow was shallower. He kept peeking in the window at me!

Thanks for stopping by!
